The recent floods in Bangladesh affected more than 5.7 million people and left countless families homeless. Many communities have lost their livelihood and wealth due to the inundation of various parts of the country.

However, despite many adversities, the people of the country are united and facing this situation with determination. Various initiatives are being taken to deliver relief to the flood affected areas. But Feni, Cumilla, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Chattogram, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Laxmipur and Cox's Bazar - these eleven districts are severely affected, more than two lakh families in these areas are suffering from lack of clean drinking water. As a result, these areas pose serious health risks and the possibility of disease spread.

In this situation, like many other organizations, Huawei has come forward to help the flood victims. Huawei has signed a memorandum of understanding with the non-profit organization Avijatrik Foundation for this purpose. The organization has given funds to Avijatrik Foundation for setting up medical camps and building houses in flood-affected areas.

Huawei South Asia President and Huawei Bangladesh CEO Pan Junfeng said, “The Huawei family is deeply saddened by the unimaginable damage caused to Bangladesh by this terrible flood. We are committed to stand by the people of Bangladesh in the rehabilitation process. We know that it is not easy to alleviate the suffering of all the people lost in the floods. But since we are not only a company, but also a responsible corporate member of this society; We consider it our responsibility to stand by the people of Bangladesh in this difficult journey of rehabilitation. As a result, we will work together to set up medical camps and rebuild homes in flood-affected areas.”

The funds provided by Huawei will be used in two phases. In the first phase, several flood shelters and medical camps on boats will be set up in the affected areas. Free medical advice, medicines, water purification kits, clean water and other necessary medical aid will be provided in the camps.

After the flood water recedes, in the second phase, some affected people will be built houses free of charge on their own land in the flood-affected areas. Avijatrik Foundation will coordinate and manage all medical camps, house construction and distribution activities under the said MoU.
